Amenhotep IV (1350 - 1334 BC), meaning "Amun is pleased" changed his name to "Akhanaten", meaning "servant of Aten" in the 5th year of his reign, and started to worship a new god, Aten instead of Amun. He closed all temples of other gods, there was to be only one god, Aten. After his death, the temples of other gods were reopened. Akhenaten's name was left out on the official list of kings and no prayers were said for him. If his reign had to be mentioned in legal documents he was referrred to as "The Great Criminal".
